The issue of primary custody of the daughter of revered rapper Nipsey Hussle has become so contentious between the sister of the late businessman, philanthropist and civic leader and his child’s mother that an agency of the state government has gotten involved.

The Department of Children and Family Services in Los Angeles is reportedly taking an interest in the legal proceedings. Nipsey's sister has very publicly pronounced her desire to be 10-year-old Emani Asghedom’s legal guardian, but the girl’s mother, Tanisha Foster, has also expressed her desire to be a part of her daughter’s life.

Court documents apparently state that DCFS officials will make an appearance in court when the decision about which home Nipsey daughter will be made.

The ruling was scheduled to come during a court hearing in a Los Angeles County court on Tuesday, May 14, 2019.

Nipsey’s mother, Angelique Smith, was notified by the courts that she has an invitation to appear and help determine what she believes would be the best interest for the child.
