After exchanging their vows eight years earlier, Diane Lane and Josh Brolin have filed for divorce in California.

The couple had a rocky start to their marriage after Brolin was arrested for spousal battery. No charges were ever filed, and the couple dismissed the event as a misunderstanding. In an interview years later, Brolin stated that the incident that caused the spousal battery report was due to criticism of his dancing. In his intoxicated state, he lashed out at his wife and started “bellowing.”

Brolin had other incidents with intoxication. He was arrested on New Year’s Day in 2013 for public intoxication. After being arrested on bail for $250 and not cited for the incident, he was spotted the next day without his wedding band.

The couple has not divulged what led to the split and says that it is amicable. They are not planning to have a contested divorce in California, and both agree that the marriage is simply over.

This is the second divorce for both Brolin and Lane. They did not have kids together. Lane was previously married to Christopher Lambert and has a 19-year-old daughter from that marriage. Brolin was married to Alice Adair and has a 24-year-old son with her.

Both Lane and Brolin are best known for their acting talents. Lane received an Oscar nomination for her role in the 2002 film Unfaithful. Brolin is also an Oscar nominee for his role in Milk. Lane and Brolin both have new films soon to be released.

Our San Francisco family law firm extends our best wishes to Lane and Brolin for a friendly separation.
