2013 International Women’s Day
The United Nations is putting forth a theme for the 2013 International Women’s Day of, “A Promise is a Promise: Time for Action to End Violence Against Women.” In addition, the International Committee of the Red Cross is drawing attention on this women’s day to the plight of women in prison. Around the world girls and women are locked in jails facing hardships in terms of safety, privacy, and access to basic services, including health care.
International Women’s Day began in the United States in 1909 to bring women’s issues to the forefront of global discussion. Happy 2013 International Women’s Day!
